Healthcare students train hands-on in medical labs & clinic settings
The clinical track of the Healthcare Career Program provides students with an introduction the medical field and the opportunity to purse professional industry certifications needed for a clinical medical assistant. This medical assisting program consists of courses, covering clinical, administrative, and laboratory procedures, as well as medical terminology, phlebotomy, and other academic concepts in healthcare needed to be successful in the American healthcare industry. CSI’s Blended Learning Methodology combines classroom lectures, hands-on practical training and laboratory learning hours. This program provides students the foundation level academic training and credentials needed to get started in the healthcare industry, and progress through higher education in the medical industry. 

Areas of study include: 

  • Performing Vital Signs, Vision & Hearing Exams
  • Minor surgical procedures
  • Electronic Health Records
  • Medical Terminology Anatomy & Physiology
  • Pharmacology
  • Electrocardiography (ECG)
  • Health Care Provider CPR/AED & First Aid Certification
  • Phlebotomy (venipuncture)

Program Length


40 Academic Weeks


Optional Practical Training (OPT)


After completion of the Healthcare Career Program, eligible international students can apply for up to 12 months OPT work authorization to gain practical experience in their field of study.


Certification Preparations


The Healthcare Career Program prepares students to obtain the Certified Phlebotomy Technician and Certified ECG Technician (CET) exams. Additionally, students have the option to pursue the following certificates: 

NHA’s Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) OR American Medical Technologist’s Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) Certification.* These certifications are internationally recognized and demonstrate the academic qualifications you achieved and the credentials you earned.

*Students must complete a 160 hour post-completion externship within 90 days of graduation to be eligible to apply for the RMA certification exam. Some course programs may not be available at all campus locations.
