An Introduction to the American Healthcare System
Clinical TrackThe clinical track of the Healthcare Career Program provides students with an introduction the medical field and the opportunity to pursue professional industry certifications needed for a clinical medical assistant. This medical assisting program consists of courses, covering clinical, administrative, and laboratory procedures, as well as medical terminology, phlebotomy, and other academic concepts in healthcare needed to be successful in the American healthcare industry. CSI’s Blended Learning Methodology combines classroom lectures, hands-on practical training and laboratory learning hours. This program provides students the foundation level academic training and credentials needed to get started in the healthcare industry, and progress through higher education in the medical industry.

Billing and Coding TrackThe billing and coding track of the Healthcare Career Program focuses on the information needs of the healthcare industry. Students are prepared with the knowledge and the skills necessary to provide medical coding and billing, manage healthcare data used to support patient care, and contribute to the development of computer-based patient records.
The Billing and Coding Track is only available at Illinois campuses
40 Academic Weeks
Optional Practical Training (OPT)
After completion of the Healthcare Career Program, eligible international students can apply for up to 12 months OPT work authorization to gain practical experience in their field of study.
The clinical track of Healthcare Career Program prepares students to obtain the Certified ECG Technician (CET) exams. Additionally, students have the option to pursue the following certificates:
NHA’s Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) and Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) Certification.
The billing and coding track of Healthcare Career Program prepares students for the NHA Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS), the NHA Certified Electronic Health Records Specialist (CEHRS), or the AHIMA Certified Coder Associate (CCA). These certifications are internationally recognized and demonstrate the academic qualifications you achieved and the credentials you earned.
