Worcester, named after a city in England, has a long history and is now the second largest city in the New England region after Allston/Boston. Interesting sights in the city include Quinsigamond State Park (once a major fishing site used by Native Americans), the American Antiquarian Society (a research library containing over two-thirds of all known reading material printed before 1821), the Higgins Armory Museum (the only museum in the Western Hemisphere devoted exclusively to weapons and armor), and the Worcester Art Museum (containing paintings and sculptures from artists around the world).
Worcester is one of America’s most livable cities and has received the All-American City Award five times! The city has the resources of a metropolis, but the intimacy of a mid-sized community and has attracted many colleges and universities over the years.
