Building a better life for his family is what motivates Numan Khan. Thanks to CSI, he is able to take steps toward that goal.
Originally from India, Numan Khan came to the United State with a goal shared by many international students: to expand opportunities and build a better future for both himself and his family. Today, he is pursuing that goal through the Business Career Program at Computer Systems Institute (CSI) in the Chicago area.
Currently enrolled in CSI’s hybrid program, Numan attends online classes twice a week combined with in-person immersions for face-to-face time with his instructors and classmates. He is in class online every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6:00 to 9:30 pm. The flexible schedule allows him to balance his studies with the responsibilities of family life. After successfully completing his first quarter, he continues to move forward, “The program is helping me develop practical skills and professional knowledge to support my career goals,” he says.
Before coming to CSI, Numan was focused on family responsibilities while working part time in sales and marketing. Prior to coming to the US, he worked in mobile phone sales while in India, “I specialized in both Android and Apple devices,” he says. The job helped shape him while he prepared for his next steps, “This role helped me develop strong communication and customer service skills,” he says. The education he’s getting will allow him to have a more comprehensive understanding of an industry he enjoys, “I plan to continue working in sales and business-related fields after completing my program.”
Family Responsibilities Are Motivation
For Numan, returning to school after several years away from formal education was not without challenges. Balancing studies with personal and family responsibilities required dedication and careful time management. Through it all, his motivation has always been clear, “As a husband and father of two, my family is my primary motivation,” he explains. “I want to build a stable and successful future for them.”
Creating a structured schedule and staying organized has helped Numan manage his time more effectively. With clear priorities in place, he continues to balance coursework, family life and other responsibilities.
Opportunities for International Students
One of the highlights of his experience at CSI has been the supportive environment. Numan appreciates the people he learns from and those who he’s learning with, “The instructors are helpful and understanding, and I enjoy meeting classmates from many different backgrounds.” He adds that the diversity of the student community has made his experience even more meaningful.
After completing the Business Career Program, Numan hopes to begin a professional career where he can apply the knowledge and skills he gained in the classroom. He also plans to participate in CPT or OPT opportunities in order to gain real-world experience related to his studies, “I believe practical experience is essential for applying classroom knowledge in a professional environment,” he says.
Outside of school, Numan says he enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, and learning new skills.
Even though he’s only one quarter into his program, Numan says CSI has already played an important role in helping him adjust to life as an F-1 student while building confidence in his abilities, ““CSI has helped me believe in my potential,” he says. “The support from the institute has made my educational journey smoother and prepared me to face future challenges with confidence.”
For students who are considering attending CSI in the future, he offers simple advice: stay committed and make the most of the opportunities that are available, “Success comes with consistency, effort, and a positive mindset.”
