Academics

If the quarter begins one week later, will the tuition be reduced because the quarter is shorter now?
The length of the quarter does not change. The spring quarter will begin one week later and end one week later.

I don’t have a computer at home. Where can I get one?
You can refer to one of the following student resource lists for links to help you locate internet providers and technology devices including short-term laptop rentals:

If the class is online, how can I contact my instructor?
There are several ways you can communicate with your instructor. You can send them an email. Each instructor will post their email address on the homepage of your course page in Moodle. When the class is in session, you can also communicate with your instructor live and through a chat.

Will a student still be able to submit a CPT/EXT and go through the approval process even if all the campuses are closed right now?
Even when the campuses are closed, you can submit your externship application online through the student portal. We will review it as we typically do for any externship application.

What if I need information from CSI for Tax purposes
Please email our Business Office businessoffice@csinow.com to request your payment history. Please Check your CSI email account since this information can only be emailed to your CSI email account.

What if I decide to withdraw for the remainder of the program, let’s say not start Spring quarter?
Please contact our DSO dsoquestions@csinow.com to review your status and our Business office businessoffice@csinow.com to review the drop implications.

If a student is qualified to get a refund, the refund will be sent by either ACH or back to the original credit cards payment. Our Business office will contact you in order to confirm your banking information (for ACH refund transactions) or your credit card information.

Will the cost of books remain the same for online classes?
We will be reducing the cost and will provide more information as it becomes available.

Who should I contact with questions and concerns about my current balance?
On the Student Account Portal, students have the ability to see real-time account balance information, view account activity, and submit a payment by using a credit card or ACH. Payments can be made without logging in by going to http://portal.csinow.edu/  and choosing Student Portal/Registrations and Payments.

If you are having difficulties figuring out your balance, you can contact our Business Office businessoffice@csinow.com

Please note that you should regularly monitor your student email account and communicate with us using your student email account. Check your CSI email account at least once per day.

What options do I have to make a payment for my Spring tuition?
The spring tuition payment deadline and calendar are posted on our website. The deadline to pay has been extended to April 11, 2020. Please check to make sure that you don’t miss any important dates.

  1. Payments can be made without logging in by going to http://portal.csinow.edu/ and choosing Student Portal/Registrations and Payments.
  2. We do accept ACH payments from our students in the exact amount of the tuition charge. Below is ACH/wire information that you can use.

In order to avoid the delay in posting of the payment into student accounts, we encourage students to follow steps on our website for submitting online payments and try to limit the check and money order payments during this challenging time.

If students still prefer to pay by cashier check/money order, please stop by any PNC branch and deposit the check into the CSI account, and email us the deposit slip (don’t forget to put your student ID and name on the check; otherwise, payment will not be posted to your account correctly)

Admissions

General Questions

When is the Start Date and End Date for this Spring Quarter?
Spring Quarter  Date – April 13th (Classes start online)
Spring Quarter End Date – June 28th

Will my program end date be extended?
At this time, your program end date will remain the same. The only change is for this Spring 2020 (April) start.

How do I start my Online Classes? Will I have an orientation?
You will start your online classes on April 13th. You will be notified of the date and time of the Orientation which will give you instructions on your online class as well.

Since F1 students are not supposed to attend online classes as a full course of study, will this affect my status?
Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) has temporarily waived the online restrictions for F1 International students. As such, your status will not be affected.

All New or Returning students

My campus is closed, how can I start or continue my admissions process?
You can email csiadmissions@csinow.com and an Admissions Representative will give you individual step by step guidance through the admissions process. You can also call the main number of your campus and the front desk will transfer you to an Admissions Representative.

How do I sign my application and enrollment documents with CSI?
Your Admissions Representative will guide you through the process of signing your documents electronically. If you have any questions, please email csiadmissions@csinow.com

I cannot get my official transcripts from my current school to provide to CSI. What do I do?
At this time, CSI will accept unofficial transcripts. Please email your unofficial transcript(s) and a copy of your diploma (if applicable) to your Admissions Representative or to csiadmissions@csinow.com.

You will (at a later date when campuses are open again) be asked to provide official transcripts and show your original diploma.

I do not have my High School Diploma or cannot provide transcripts from my home country at this time. What can I do?
The Admissions Team is working on a case-by-case basis with regards to this situation. Please let your Admissions Representative know of your situation during the process.

I cannot get a translation of my high school diploma or bank statement or other documents. Is there any other way?
Your Admissions Representative can give you options to get your documents translated and help you through the process.

My passport has expired and I can’t get an appointment or my appointment was cancelled to renew my passport. What do I do?
We understand that many Embassies/Consulates might be closed due to COVID-19. Please let your Admissions Representative know of your situation and if possible provide a cancellation email or receipt of your appointment.

Banks in my home country are closed. I cannot provide my bank statements at this time.
Bank statements are needed in order for CSI to admit a student and provide an I-20. If you are having problems getting your bank statement, please let your Admissions Representative know and we will work together on a case-by-case basis.

I want to contact my Admissions Representative. How can I call or email my Admissions Representative?

Students were sent an email that contains contact information for each admission representative. You can also call the main number of your campus and the front desk will transfer you to an Admissions Representative.

Transfer Students

The school I am transferring from is closed and I cannot provide a Transfer Eligibility Form.
Please let your Admissions Representative know of this situation and we can contact the DSO from your transferring school to get the required information.

How do I take the English Testing to qualify for CSI programs?
Your Admissions Representative will guide you through the process of English Testing to qualify for CSI programs. If you have any questions, you can also email csiadmissions@csinow.com


Abroad Students

I received my Visa but I cannot attend CSI in Spring quarter what should I do?
Please email csiadmissions@csinow.com or contact your Admissions Representative to let us know as soon as possible. We will work with you and guide you through the process.

I have my I-20 but the US Embassy in my home country is closed. What can I do?
If your I-20 has a start date of April 2020, please contact us at csiadmissions@csinow.com and we will guide you through the process.

If your I-20 has a start date of July 2020, you still have time to schedule your visa appointment prior to the Summer 2020 start. Please keep checking with the US Embassy in your home country regarding appointment scheduling. If by May, you still cannot get an appointment, please contact us and we will provide further guidance.

Can I still get my I-20 shipped to my home country or to an address here in the US?
Your I-20 can be shipped (as of right now unless issues arise with shipping carriers) to your home country or an address here in the US. You will have to provide proof of shipping fees. Your Admissions Representative can let you know of the shipping charges and guide you through the process of payment.

Can I defer my start to Summer 2020 (July) start?
Please contact your Admissions Representative or email csiadmissions@csinow.com for more information.

Payment

What is the payment deadline for tuition and fees for the Spring Quarter?
The deadline to pay has been extended to April 11. CSI requires students to pay the full quarter tuition and fees before the start of the quarter. If a student fails to do so, late fees will apply.

How do I make my payment?
You can make your payment online at http://www.csinow.edu/online-payment-registration/ by clicking the Pay Now button.

Can I pay by check or money order?
Please refer to the Accounting and Business Office section of this Frequently Asked Questions document.

I-20 questions

I need my I-20 to renew my Driver’s License. How do I get my I-20?
If you need your I-20 to renew your driver’s license, please make sure you have completed the enrollment process with your Admissions Representative. The Admissions Representative can request your I-20 from the DSO. You will have to pay the Spring Quarter tuition and fees and provide a copy of your current driver’s license. If you have any questions, please email us at csiadmissions@csinow.com

Work Authorization/Externship

For questions related to special requests for work authorization due to special circumstances like economic hardship, please refer to the DSO section of this Frequently Asked Questions document.

For Illinois Students:
You can continue to submit requests for your externship for Customer Service Specialist (CSS) and Hospitality Industry Professional (HIP) programs at the time of enrollment. To apply for Externship, click on the link http://portal.csinow.edu/ and click on Submit/Update Externship (Instructions).

The company I worked for under CPT is temporarily closed, they said I will have this job once they reopen. Do I need to submit CPT again for approval after reopen?
If you have been approved for CPT, you do not have to submit for another CPT if you are going to work for the same employer that you submitted the CPT approval for. Inform your (student affairs if you are current students in your 2nd, 3rd or 4th quarter) Admissions Representative or DSO about this situation as soon as possible. If you are enrolled in Customer Service Specialist or Hospitality Industry Professional, as long as you meet the hours required for your externship for the quarter your externship will be satisfied. Please refer to the Academics section of this Frequently Asked Questions document for more details.

Will the new start date of April 13th affect the start date of my Externship (CPT)?
Your Externship start date will change to April 13th instead of April 6th. You should have received an email regarding this. Your employer has been notified and should have received an email to sign with the new start date. Please check with your employer to make sure they received the email and they sign the new offer letter and externship agreement.

Starting Classes

What if I don’t have a computer or internet access to start classes online?
Please let your Admissions Representative know as soon as possible and we will work with you on a case-by-case basis. You can also check out the Academics section of this Frequently Asked Questions document.

How do I receive attendance for online classes?
The online classes will count attendance based on a number of factors including and not limited to completion of assignments, participation in class sessions, etc. During orientation we will explain how attendance will be tracked. Please refer to the Academics section of this Frequently Asked Questions document for more details.

Can I apply for economic Hardship?

Examples of unforeseen circumstances include (but are not limited to):

  • Loss of financial aid or on-campus employment (through no fault of your own);
  • Substantial fluctuations in currency value or exchange rate;
  • Inordinate increases in tuition or living costs;
  • Unexpected changes in the financial condition of your source of support;
  • Medical bills; and
  • Other substantial and unexpected expenses.

Can I waive filing fees for economic hardship?
If you are unable to pay the fee for a USCIS service or benefit, you may request a fee waiver for certain forms by filing Form I-912, Request for Fee Waiver. Click on link for details.

What do I do If I lost my CPT/OPT?
Please contact your campus DSO.

Can I travel home and return to continue study in the U.S. when the Covid-19 situation in U.S. is resolved? 
Under current conditions you can leave to continue your study outside of the U.S. While the temporary measures related to COVID-19 are in place, students deemed to be maintaining status if they are making normal progress in their course of study. SEVP allows students to temporarily count online classes toward a full course of study, even if they have left the United States and are taking the online classes elsewhere. This temporary provision is only in effect due to COVID-19.

I got laid off due to Covid-19. As an F-1 student can I file an unemployment claim?
Students who are unemployed due to COVID-19 should contact their local or state employment agency for more information.

How can I apply for a visa?
Students who continue to make normal progress in their course of study remain eligible for admission into the United States. However, because of the changing array of travel restrictions, students should refer to their local embassy’s website through the U.S. Department of State https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/ea/covid-19-information.html#_blank for any updates about visa issuance. Also, DHS and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/index.html websites provide information about current travel restrictions to the United States.

What if I want to pick-up my documents?
Depending on documents and urgency, DSO can ship letters and I20s to your address. The official transcript service is still working, but the option to pick up at a campus is not available at the moment, you will need to request it to be shipped.

You can access Moodle and all of your course content on your cell phone as well as taking quizzes and exams.

How will I receive my textbook while off campus for the spring quarter?
We are working with the publishers to provide you access to an eBook for the Spring quarter class.

My insurance doesn’t cover hospital visits. What should I do if I become sick?
We are putting together a resource guide that will help you find either free or low-cost healthcare providers.
